This week on the Inspire Club Podcast, Matt Manners is joined by Claire Cathcart HR professional turned founder of Elevate, a platform created to help HR practitioners grow in confidence, capability and community.
Claire reflects on her early inspiration — a manager named Miranda at TUI who showed her that it’s okay to be strong, opinionated and driven as a woman in the workplace. That example of trust and empowerment still shapes how Claire leads today: “Failure doesn’t really exist — it’s just an opportunity to learn.”
But not every influence was positive. A recent experience of being micromanaged, she admits, “knocked my confidence … but gave me the kick to start Elevate.” Out of a difficult chapter came a renewed mission to help others thrive.
Claire also speaks candidly about workplace evolution — why flexibility and hybrid working are here to stay and how kindness, balance and listening can transform culture. Her favourite advice comes from her mum:
“Treat everyone like people — not job titles.”
