Stories from an Inspiring Leader – Frank Monteleone
Frank Monteleone, Senior Vice President, Human Resources, Rexall / McKesson Canada
Frank Monteleone’s leadership style is multi-faceted. He doesn’t simply dream up the future, he implements it. He doesn’t direct work, he inspires it. He doesn’t only grow his knowledge and capability, he shares his expertise broadly. Frank empowers his team to dream, grow, and share. His optimism for the future transforms fear and resistance into drive and passion. He inspires intellectual curiosity, blending it with empathy and pragmatism. He gracefully moves ideas into action and provides conditions ripe with psychological safety for his team. Frank is hard-wired for people empowerment, always encouraging his team to learn, grow, and challenge themselves. He provides support and a safe place for his team to try, test, fail, and get back up.
Frank serves as Executive Sponsor of Rexall’s Inclusion and Diversity Committee. This has helped create a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive workplace rich in belonging. In the spirit of openness, respect, and communication, Frank has also hosted open forums for employees to share their feelings on racial injustice. He and his team continue to listen, learn, and build a curriculum for employees to help them do the same, including anti-racism and Indigenous education. At Rexall, we want to #BeOurALL and it starts with connecting as people and coming together to make the world a better place, with Frank right there leading by example.
From International Women’s Day to Pride Month activities, from Black History Month with guest speakers including Cityline’s Tracy Moore, to raising $25,000 for the Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity, we celebrate, listen, and learn while reinforcing the #ALLinclusive culture of Rexall. Frank not only exemplifies Rexall’s ICARE values but has become a foundational pillar for the #ALLin spirit inspiring employees that #ALLtogether we can make an impact!
Endorsement
“Frank challenged me to think bigger and do more simply by trusting myself and providing me with […] opportunities that challenged me‚ some at times I thought may have been too big for me. These challenges, this trust, and the confidence that I had knowing he was there for support allowed me, and countless others to flourish. I owe a lot to Frank and consider him a leader, a personal mentor, and to be so bold to say a true friend.”
