At IW, our mission is to change the world through the world of work. The clearest way we can do that, in our eyes, is to help create psychologically safe workplaces. Truly inclusive cultures where you can be authentically yourself without fear to share ideas and opinions which has huge benefits both on an organisational and individual level.
At the end of 2020 together with our community of Inspirers, we created a 2021 predictions book that identified four key areas of focus. So we decided to hold workshops to address these issues, begin to identify solutions and ultimately create together a pathway through them.
Quite simply, we are not as far forward on Inclusion as we need to be.
As Gamiel Yafai said during his talk at The Workplace Inspirathon “We are 65 years since the race relations act and we are still talking about race discrimination. We do so much talking without the action. […] People see D&I as an Initiative rather than a business imperative. Organisations who are intentional about their inclusion are those who are thriving.”
This bitesize document represents the start of that professional journey together to create that pathway. Within it you will see sparks of inspiration. Sparks that might help solve issues, create another idea or drive us all to explore it further.
