6 ways to become a high achiever

We all know someone who routinely blows expectations out of the water and consistently achieves more than what seems possible. Have you ever looked at them and wondered what it is that makes them such a high achiever?

In this article, Ruth Gotian speaks with high achiever Bradford “Brad” Kane. A Government attorney who has made a career out of his passion for social justice. Kane shares his 6 tips to help you succeed including finding your inspiration, seeking your passion, finding a mentor and more.

From the Article:

Find your inspiration

Kane believes that one’s inspiration helps them find their passion and purpose, which then fuels their self-confidence, self-esteem, and ability to excel at their work. In his case, speeches by President John F. Kennedy, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, and Senator Robert F. Kennedy inspired him to pursue a career fighting for racial justice and social equity. When he faced a barrage of barriers and hurdles which could easily allow feelings of discouragement or futility to creep in, Kane made a concerted effort to reconnect with his passion, as a reminder of why he selected his chosen career path. When seeking inspiration, he sometimes took walks inside the US Capitol, looking at the pictures and statues which marked passages of our nation’s history. He accentuates the value of finding people, ideas, or words that inspire you.

Seek your passion

Like most high achievers, Kane found his passion in government and was able to create a career out of it. He spent many years considering what topics he cared deeply about and what he was good at. He sought opportunities to fuse his unrelenting drive and superior skill. Kane emphasizes that when you love what you do, you can’t wait to wake up in the morning and get started. When fired-up to get the work done because you care so deeply about its purpose and impact, “You are like a heat-seeking missile”. Early on, he realized he had a passion for politics and social justice and sought to move the mission further with his legal training and government experience.
