  • Anwen Bottois, Leadership Success Coach and Founder of Purple Sky Consulting, is a Chartered Fellow of the CIPD and a Level 7 Executive and Senior Leader ILM qualified Coach and Mentor.
His mission is to inspire Leaders to love what they do – so they can build and grow healthier, happier, and higher-performing teams and organisations. Anwen wants to help them to love leading by working with them to be more confident and effective – quickly. Anwen achieves this by working with HR and Executive Teams to engage, enable, and empower them in a way that accelerates them to success.

Anwen is an experienced HR Leader and, after her own experience of leading and transitioning to more senior roles, realised she wanted to help more Leaders directly. “I get the challenge of moving between leadership roles. Stepping up for the first time, moving to a new organisation or getting promoted internally means change; the role and requirements aren’t the same anymore, but it takes a lot for people to admit to finding the promotion or transition they wanted challenging. We want that to be successful, and to do that, we need to stop assuming that people are completely ready or that they don’t need any further support. We can make these important changes easier for everyone by proactively giving them a space to grow and access the support, knowledge, skills and behaviours they need for their new challenge.”

At Purple Sky Consulting, we provide Boost Connect – a Leadership Development experience for Leaders taking on bigger roles. Leadership Coaching Packages and lots of Free resources in our Purple Sky Thinking Hub.

Bad boss, bad boss, whatcha gonna do?

The majority of bosses do not wake up in the morning and say to themselves, “Today is a great day to ruin my people’s lives.” But the reality is that 99.6% of people have had a bad boss, and 57% leave their job because of their boss. In this session we’ll bust the myths that contribute to this problem, exploring and uncovering the tools required in this new world of work to be a great boss, one who wants to enrich – and not ruin – their employees’ lives. Attendees will leave with an awareness of the 10 types of bad bosses that exist in the workplace and an understanding of the Great Boss Building Block model that will equip their bosses with new skills to be able to tackle their bad boss traits, instead of trying to be a great boss using bad boss techniques and approaches.

Building a Culture of Appreciation People Don’t Want to Leave

You know your people are struggling, and that no gift card, spot bonus, or pizza party is going to make a difference on its own when an employee doesn’t feel valued by their managers or organization. But how do we get overworked leaders to do little things to take care of their people? How do we get senior leaders to understand that we can’t improve the customer/patient experience until we improve the employee experience? How do we reconnect burnt-out staff to the careers they once loved? We will answer these questions and more as we map out how to nurture a culture of appreciation and respect from your role and give you the ideas to get started today!

    Outcomes: Leaders will learn to…

    • Use simple low/no-cost strategies to inject authentic recognition and appreciation into all levels of your organization and total rewards strategy.
    • Understand the hidden reason managers avoid recognizing employees and gain tools to guide even the most reluctant Managers and Senior Leaders to authentically recognize their people.
    • Get trained in a new, easily transferable technique that will help managers get to the heart of what each of their employees really wants and needs to feel valued every day.
    • Nudge positive employee interactions that help their people remember why they love their careers.

How a deeper self-awareness helped unlock a more connected, cohesive and collaborative workplace

In a world that feels faster moving than ever before, it’s not enough for leaders to simply keep up with the changes around them. To make sure their teams are engaged, inspired and – crucially – happy, leaders need the skills that reflect the evolving needs and demands of the modern workforce.

Join Kay Vessey from H&H and Jayne Wilcock from East Riding of Yorkshire Council as they talk about how a transformational 12-month leadership programme is helping the region’s largest employer become more agile, diverse and inclusive. And it all comes down to authentic, effective communication.

Discover how an innovative approach guided leaders on a journey of self-discovery – one which challenged them to dial up their strengths and embrace their differences.  Giving them the confidence to lead and communicate a way that powerfully struck a chord with their diverse teams.
